2011 Flood

They named it "Lee"--the Sept. 2011 Flood. We are still dry here on Orange Street, but the Sunrise basement is under 6 inches (& counting) of water. Heard that parts of a nearby county got 16 inches of rain since Monday.


Major roads are closed. Manheim & Elizabethtown are flooded. The Susquehanna River is expected to crest on Saturday. We're definitely setting records & making headlines here.


Two weeks ago Hurricane Irene tore through here and brought down a huge chunk of our neighbor's hemlock & part of our magnolia--filled our backyard.

It opened up a new patch of sky, which has me planning which flowers I'll be able to plant in the spring. And we are still "dry" here. But I'm waiting for the sun.

Just sayin'

This is going to be a short experiment. Mainly because I haven't committed to blogging yet. I just want to play around, test the waters. No harm in that. I don't even plan to keep this blog. I have another name already picked---for the "real thing". And when that time comes, I'll even have some pictures ready to go, the "before" and "after" type. You know, that make the process of a project interesting!
